Volvo or OMC

I've got a 1995 Sunbird 170SS. It's got the 3.0GS sterndrive. the Engine and outdrive has OMC Cobra written on them but the tag on the valve cover of the engine says 'OMC manufactured by Volvo Penta'. Which is it? did volvo supply OMC with engines and drives for this year? Also, would this make the outdrive an OMC or volvo? Thanks in advance

In 94, OMC and Volvo went together in a Joint Venture for several year. In either 98 or 99 Volvo bought out OMC's sterndrive and engine section. In 2000 OMC went bankrupt.
The drive is Volvo. You can get all engine and drive parts from Volvo.

I guess that's a good thing, seeing how OMC has a bad reputation. how do i go about identifying what type of volvo drive I have? It's got a model number on on it but a search yields nothing.
