Volvo MS4

I have a Volvo TAMD 41d coupled to an MS4 transmission. When the engine warms, the tranny will not go into forward. Anyone else have this problem before?

I don't know if anyone else has had the problem before. Are you wanting to find the problem, or just curious if others have had the problem?

If you want to fix it, the first thing I would do is warm it up till it doesn't shift, then disconnect the shift cable and try shifting it manually at the transmission linkage and see if it is hard to shift also.
Have you looked at the oil in the tranny? Does it look ok, or is it burned or metalic looking?

I already performed that procedure. It looks like it is a wear item (sliding sleeve). Now finding the replacement procedure will be the challenge.
It is amazing how much the Volvo parts cost! I think the "Made In Sweden" sticker carries a base price of $200. Then they add the cost of the part!
