i have a 1999 glastron 175sx with a volvo penta 3.0, 4 cyl, 135 hp. I/O. the boat was used for one season new, garaged for 3 years, and ive owned it for 3 months. at idle or a little above, the temp reads 175 degrees. when you gas it and get on plane, just running around 21 mph, and 3200 rpm, the temp slowly rises and will get up past 220 after about 5 to 10 minutes. i dont let it get that high anymore. ive put in a new t-stat (160), a new raw water impeller, (it was really disentegrated), and it still does the same thing. ive backflushed the raw water intake at the engine by removing the hose and letting the garden hose run full blast, also undid all other hoses and did the same. the boat is always in the saltwater but the outdrive (SX) is clean. I hope this is a common problem and dont have to call the mechanics out at 60.00 an hour. Thanks

Check your exhaust elbow and riser. I had a very simular over hating issue with a 3.0 Mercruiser a couple years ago and it was a partly clogged elbow. Remove the elbow and look at the water passages, the water is outside and exhaust is inside. (will make sense when you see it. If that is the case replace the riser and elbow ASAP, it is fails it can put sea water into motor..not a good thing.

check that but if you have a power steering cooler check that as well. remember not only do you have to pump water in you also have to pump it out. if the riser is clogged you cant pump it out. in saltwater I reccomend a riser replacement at 3 years and a manifold and riser at 6 years<br />good luck and keep posting
