i have a Volvo penta 250. 18' glassply
over the winter i noticed a small (couple of drops) of antifreeze in the bilge.
i couldn't find were it is coming from. somewhere above the belt midline.
after my second trip on the water there was ALOT of coolant in he bilge not to mention all over the engine.
i have it mored right now and would like to do repairs myself.
i would not like to pull it outa the water any time soon as my trailer is under heavy construction at this time.
----------------------------
i pressure tested the closed system and it seemed fine. (with a borrowed pressure tester)
i bought a new cap and ran her at idle for 5 minutes and everything seemed fine.
i hoped it was just the cap.
-----------------------------------
it was not the cap.
there is NO info on the fresh water pump in my manual.
after taking the whole cooling system apart ( 4 times now) and inspecting and using marine sealant and replacing most of the seals i have not found the problem.
it seems to be coming from inside the housing for the fresh water circulater pump. is this possible? ( i mean the 5 inch cap which the belt is on)
I thought it was coming from the connections between the tank and the line going to the oil cooler, but i think it was just spraying up there.
i took the pump apart and it looked fine, i sealed the connections were it is flush with the engine and is not leaking from there.
should i borrow the pressure tester again or am i missing something here.
thanks,,,,,, DUG
i just wanna go fishing damit
