Volvo Guru's... question about parts

So, I'm starting to look at parts online for this DP-D sterndrive project. I am finding the most information at www.volvopentastore.com. However, the diagram of the parts for my sterndrive is mislabled. Some parts that are listed for sale don't even have a corresponding number pointing to them in the diagram. This is most confusing for someone like me. Is this the norm or just more bad luck?

I have phone number to Volvo in Virginia. Do you think I can get some help from these folks, or can you point me to a better, more accurate website?

Look around. Just above your original post or at the top of any thread in the IO forum, click on Volvo parts.
It IS all the Volvo Part numbers

I have to assume you are talking about items 13 and 14. You have to learn to speak Swinglish to understand Volvos Swedish to English translations some time.
Item 13 is the complete kit and includes 14, which can't be purchased seperatly, only in the kit pn 854625 (about 35 bucks)

Don,

I wish I knew what schematic you were looking at. Here is the link to the one I was using. It's actually for a DP-D1 sterndrive unit. I found out that I have a friend who was a master Volvo mechanic back in the late 90's. He is the one who referred me to look at this unit... mainly because he said it lists more parts on this site than the other similar sterndrives.

Look closely at items #4 and #5. Both clearly point to hydraulic hoses, but if you look at the pricing chart #4=cap plug and #5=oil pan

I was hoping to purchase 2 "cap plugs" and rebuild my trim cylinders without removing the trim cylinders from the boat. Today however, I spoke to a very "unfriendly" lady at the Volvo HQ in Virginia who told me, "You need to call a dealer for that kind of help". After I told her I had called and both dealers wanted to put me off until November she still had no explanation for the confusion with the diagram.

I just know that I can't order parts yet becasue the dealers seem too busy to get involved and help, Volvo refuses to help, the online schematics aren't labeled correctly and the online folks also will not provide any technical support to dechiper the schematics.

Seems like it's just one bad "wave" after another... pardon the pun

I'd print off the page and circle the parts you want and bring it to the dealer. They'll figure it out.

Re: Volvo Guru's... question about parts

The problem is with the nomenclature of the items. #4 and #5 are both hoses, not cap plug or oil pan
If you were to order PN 873228, from either your dealer or iboats, you would receive a hose. same thing with 873229, it's a hose.
I have no idea what a cap plug is, but if you are looking for parts to rebuild that cylinder, you are out of luck. Volvo doesn't make any parts for those cylinders.
