can a volvo engine be run with the outdrive removed without overheating or causing damage of any kind? Need to do some carb repair and cleaning and the outdrive is removed for repairs. thanks, mkg this is a 93 model 230A 4 cyl. engine, it has a water resorvior tank on the front of the engine and I assume an impeller in the lower unit as well since there is a water intake hose to the lower unit. Thanks

Ayuh,... You've gotta be more specfic than a Volvo motor...

Generally speakin',...
You've gotta feed water, by hose, into the water pickup, where it Would be if the drive was there...

Re: Volvo engine question

It depends on which motor and what you want to do. I have a radiator flush "t" connection set up on mine so I can hook up a garden hose and have water to the motor. That's one of the issues. The other important factor is running the motor without any load. I'd be really careful about over revving the engine. People run engines on the stand all the time but not for extended time or at high RPM.

Ayuh,... That May be,...
I don't do Volvos, but I thought Most of them run a Motor mounted raw water pump...
Wherever it is,... It Needs Water...
