Re: Volvo- Eng. Swap

The aq130 finished production in 1977, it is not a rubber band motor. The aq151B is a rubber band motor. Two completely different motors, not even from the same 'family' of motors.

I don't know for a fact but I strongly doubt that the bolt pattern is the same.

If you mean a AQ131, then yes you can swap it with the AQ151. Those engines share the same shop manual. AQ131 is the 2.3 Ltr and AQ151 is a 2.5 Ltr. The bore is the same just the stroke is a little different. I've seen a lot of old bayliners come through here with AQ131, seem much more common.

Good luck to you.

Re: Volvo- Eng. Swap

Does anyone know if a 1988 AQ 151B will bolt up to a 1986 AQ 130 bellhousing? Thanks

This is confusing. From your other post, you have a 151, why are you trying to use a 130 bellhousing (I agree, probably a 131 if it's an 86)
Are you sure you aren't trying to put either a 130 or 131 engine on the bellhousing you already have which is a 151???

Re: Volvo- Eng. Swap

haha, Sorry Don, I sold the boat with the 151, But still have the block from it. Buying another 86 probably 131 sorry, it has one low compression cyl. as my spare 151 has that burnt piston. So i wanted to fix the 151 and put it in the 86 Imperial. Are the ratios the same? > AQ131-2.3 and AQ151-2.5 thanks
