volvo dps to much fluid

I changed(incorrectly) the lower unit fluid on my 92 baha cruisers 570A volvo dp. I am fairly certain that i over filled it. Cant get to dip stick while in water. Took it out for maiden voyage rev. good, neutral good, forward good than ran about 6 miles and wouldnt shift out of forward (stuck in forward). IF I pull it back out and make sure level is correct do you think it will be ok? or did i cause more damage. just trying to save a few bucks by not putting it back on blocks. Sure was fun trying to dock it on my own. Thanks in advace. great forum

I've had trouble getting out of forward on occasion like you. I can't tell if its in the control or the oudrive.

Did you confirm the fluid was too high?
