Volvo Composite Drive - Ran aground, now overheating...?

A friend recently ran his boat aground. Boat is equipped with a new Volvo composite drive/w a 5.7l SBC. He shut the engine down upon hearing the overheat warning. Upon being towed back to deep-water, he re-started and boat gradually reached overheat again. He flushed the motor and it's still overheating.

I looked at the boat today and saw the standard "circulating pump" on the front of the engine and what seems to be a "raw water pump" mounted inside the crank pulley.

Question is: Is there a water pump/impeller in the outdrive or is the crank-mounted pump the only pump?

Thanks in advance!

No pump in the drive on the XDP drives. however, the water pickup may be plugged with mud (depending on what was hit) and packed tight.
The raw water pump is the pump mounted on the front of the crankshaft.

And to continue Don's thought, if the pickup is clear, then the impeller in that engine driven raw water pump, has been damaged. It's time to remove that pump, disassemble, and inspect.

Thanks for the responses.

I'm not familiar with this boat/drive. On my TRS, the water pickup is mounted on the hull. Is the water pickup for the XDP in the drive or on the hull?
