Volvo Aq170/270 What Should I Do

Just Bought This Boat1972 Reinell Rv2020 With A Volvo 170/270 Engine And Out Drive. Put The Hose To It Today Started Engine Ran 5 Min Or So Turned Off Checked Oil And Its Chocolate Milk. I Knew I Had To Rebuild Transom When I Bought The Boat But Now It Looks Like I Need A Engine? What Could Cause The Water In Oil? Head Gasket? Or Would The Most Likely Culprit Be The Block? Should I Look For Another 170 Or Repower? Is There A Newer Engine That Would Work With The Outdrive I Have Now? Any Ideas?thanks

The AQ170 will allow water past the raw water pump seals and into the sump if you pressurise the system. Do not block up any holes on the leg etc when running. Pull apart your raw water pump on the front of the engine and check the two seals on the shaft into the block.

Its been hard hard work to log onto this site for me for a long long time. I am trying once again to sort the issue.

I sold your old girl a couple of weeks back. I am now running around in a Berty 20. Beutiful old girl. Love her to bits. The bloke that bought yours is bright eyed and looking to have it back on the water this summer. Cant wait to see it finished.

Is it fresh water cooled or raw/salt water?

Some of those motors had an oil cooler it could have sprung a leak.Or the culprit could be the manifold has joined the other team.J
