Question, I have a 1988 penta with a 290 outdrive. Found a 1977 350 volvo with a 270 outdrive. Will this bell housing bolt up to my current 290 outdrive. (I know the gears need to be changed) Just wondering about the bell housing connecting to the gimble.

thanks

I highly doubt it. Too many differences.

You'd most likely need a V8 flywheel cover/Bearing housing of similar vintage and a different lower unit(gear ratio as you mentioned). Not to mention motor mounts, etc.

Are you looking to repower?

Yes, looking to repower, came across this volvo 350 for pretty good price. comes with outdrive and rebuilt motor. Everything is included in the sale including the bell housing. Its just that it is a 1971 model.

Is it a '71 or '77? Volvo didn't use the 350 in '71. Do you have an AQ#.

Better figure out what exactly your working with. Are you happy with your 290 outdrive? Have you been able to test it thoroughly?
