I would like to replace the little Solex carbs on my twin AQ145 engines with a single two-barrel carb. First, is there an automotive equivelent for this engine and second, is there a kit for this conversion?

Why do you want to replace the carburetors?

Changing from Volvo to anything else probably ain't gonna happen.I don't think they make a kit to do that.Whats wrong with your Volvo? Jerry

First, since the carbs have no choke, the engines are a pain to start. Once they warm up, they're ok.

Second, my boat guru tells me the carbs are hard to keep synched.

I found yesterday that Weber-Redline (Torrance, CA) makes a conversion kit from the twin Solex to a single 2-barrel Weber. The kit is going for about $700 retail which includes the intake manifold, carb, and electric choke. I was hoping there was an automotive equivalent so I wouldn't have to pay the 50% "boat" premium.
