So fianally the lake test day is tomorrow, new starter that nagging too short wire thing went away. Other than the obvious, water leaks around the transom mounting collar and exaust and u joint bellows, just changed them new 3 days ago as well, lotsa new grease everywhere, and yeah the alignment tabs between my bell housing and transom sheild are spot on.
Ummm what else should I be looking for? From a sealing standpoint that is, as all the motor temps, charging and pumps lights all that work out fine. So I'm not too concerned with the function of the motor,
Just an hour to check before my next work cycle so I know what I need to work on next days off.
This thing in the driveway so far is very promising. It was an '89 AQ131D
with an SP/A-MT Leg, it's now an '85 AQ260B with a 280B Leg the dist is from an 88 AQ271 or 311 but then the motor castings say it's from a 4 bolt main Vette never got that far into it as seemed OK and just resealed valves, guides ground and lapped and left the heads as they were. Thanks for all the pointers over the winter guys wish me luck!!
