I am considering converting my points style ignition to electronic ignition using a Pertronix Ignitor kit. Does anyone have any experiences, good or bad, with doing this on an AQ130C 4 cylinder engine with the Bosch distributor they'd like to share? Thanks!

Make sure the engine runs perfectly BEFORE you do the changeover.

I did it on my 125A and it was well worth it. I did have to pull the distributer and rotate it a bit to get some more headroom for ajdusting the timing aftrwards.

And Don is right. A lot of people think they can solve their problems by changing to an electronc ignition. An engine has to run correctly with points before it'll run correctly with th electronic. Otherwise anything it DOES improve will just be masking the real problems.

The engine is running great right now, which has me wondering if it would be worth doing or not. But I suppose the fact I won't ever have to change/adjust points again is reason enough.

Re: Volvo AQ130C electronic ignition conversion?

Bought and installed a Pertonix kit this weekend. Installation went smoothly except I had a hard time getting the magnetic sleeve all the way onto the cam, but all that took was a little elbow grease, and I also had to cut the Pertronix module's wire connectors off since they would not fit thru the hole in my distributor and the put new ones on. But once I got it all installed, the engine started up easily and then I re-timed back to spec. Took it out for a run later that day and the engine ran excellent in all respects.
