Volvo AQ125A with corroded exhaust port- HELP!

Hey guys-

my very first post on here so go easy on me! I just got a really sweet deal on an older Bayliner Capri 1950 cuddy that has the AQ125A in it with a 270 leg. Engine is by no means a write off as it seems to run great, but it has what I'm finding is a very common problem- one of the exhaust ports on the cylinder head has corroded badly enough so that the previous owner was using JB weld to keep 'er quiet and sealed, but as Im sure you know thats pretty temporary.

In my search for a replacement cylinder head online (egads! more expensive then vintage Yamaha motorcycle parts!) I came across a lot of talk about an exhaust port rebuild kit- I have pretty good mechanical knowledge, but absolutely NO idea how that kind of a kit (if it really exists) is supposed to work. I've also been told the most cost effective solution would be to have a mobile welding guy who specializes in this sort of thing to come and do a site-repair to just build the missing area back up with aluminum tig or whatever the hell he would use for that.

Now as an absolutely last straw, if my only option here for a reliable quality repair is to replace the head and therefore be looking at scavenging through used ones that are in better shape then mine (or paying massive bucks for a new one) then believe me when I say I got the boat for a good enough deal that Im not totally apposed to just swapping out the whole unit.

Any and all info would be massively appreciated.
Thanks!

Pull the head and send it to the machine shop

Yep, what sqbtr said. I just had to send mine to a machine shop myself for the same reason (same engine).

Another option would be to replace the head with an automotive one. I believe they're identical except for the camshaft, which you would have to swap out. I've found that lot of the engine parts are just off the shelf Volvo 2.3L parts, except for the carburetor, starter, alternator, exhaust manifold, etc. (the special boat parts).
