I have been having trouble getting water from my outdrive through the cooling system using a muff. I just changed the impeller and have cleaned out all the lines through the system. I connect the hose to the muff start the engine and nothing but air comes out of the exhaust! the waterpump seems to be working. I cannot find the oil cooler - could that perhaps be clogged? Some help would be appreciated - thanks so much!

Hi pfotes,

The 4cyl volvo OHC oil cooler is built into the oil filter mount. You should see 2 water hoses connected.

Aldo

Re: volvo aq120 overheating..help!

Pfotes, I have 270 outdrive connected to a 170AQ that doesn't like muffs also. I have connected a hose directly to the hose from the outdrive inside the engine compartment. That way I know I am getting water to the engine immediately. One could easily put in a garden hose "T" so it would be easy to hook up, but I am reluctant to do so as it would be another connection that could leak.

Hope this helps, David
