Ok guys I am stumped and cant figure this problem out. I have a 1997 Volo Penta GLI (1996). The engine starts up fine throttles up to 3500rpm fine and runs between a hour or two with no problems. Last Saturday while doing 3500rpm I had a sudden drop to 2000rpm and could no go ver 2500rpm. I pulled the cover and noticed only one injector spraying...so i bought a TBI gasket kit and cleaned the injectors and replaced the old gaskets.....same problem again yesterday......after 2 hours at around 3000rpm the engine drops to 2000rpm and cant get over 2500rpm. I have several thoughts what to do next but need help from you...I ordered a code reader from Ebay so this should help, but what do you think it is? I have two fuel pumps low pressure and high pressure could this be the problem? I will change the fuel filter this weekend (should have done this already duh!) and inspector the Racor water seperator..also could this be related to the boat running at S.L.O.W mode and if so where do I go about inspecting the problem. Just a FYI I have replaced the impellor the thermostat and the enine is running between 180 to 185 and people tell me that is the cprrect temp.......HELP!

You have a 96 or 97, which? and there is no such thing as a GLI. The GL models are carbed, the GI models are injectied. Since you describe injectors bad, I would assume a TBI model. What is the full model number. Including all the letters after the Gi.

Codes probably won't help with a dead injectorl You need a noid light to see if your ECM is powering the injector. You may need to replace it, not just clean it. Dirt usually goes after both injectors.

Since they were designed with 2 pumps, they will work with 2. That is how Volvo has always done it.

If your engine is raw water cooled and running over 180 (even 185), then you have a problem developing.
Probably manifolds and risers plugging up.

Don thanks for the reply brother but its a 1997 GLI (TBI). I think this was the first year of the OMC Volvo transition but I might be wrong. Its written right on the engine cover...anyways. I think I might have broblems with the temp sensor I will give it a try.
