volvo 5.7 260a loose alternator belt how to tighten

I have a 87 bayliner contessa with a volvo penta 260A
motor. I change the alternator belt and i'm having a hard time getting it tight. Is there a special tool to tighten these belts?

I use my hammer handle between the block and the fwd part of the alt. frame
do NOT pry on the middle of the alterernator.
