All,
I had asked a question a few months ago about a problem I was having with a volvo penta. It had tuliped the valve, I replaced the engine, it did it again. I was having problems with the engine running at any RPM after it was put on load. I think Don had given me some advice and I just wanted to let the people that responded information on what the problem was... AFter a year of working on the motor and trying everthing, someone told me about a service problem with Volvos. Volvo recommended removing the FLAPPER valves in the y-pipe. When we looked in the ypipe, the port side valve had broken loose and had lodged down in the bottom of the pipe, blocking the exhaust system on the port side.
I removed the valve and the boat runs great. So, thanks for all the help from everyone on here. Point of note, if you have flapper valves and a volvo engine, you might want to check it out.
