I have a Volvo 5.0 gi/sx GM, year 1999 (cannot find the engine tag yet). First winter with this new boat and I was going to take it to a mechanic mainly for the fogging procedure outlined in the engine manual. It seemed complicated and I didn't have enough time to figure it out before needing to winterize. The 2 mechanics I talked to said they didn't fog fuel injected engines anymore because it can mess up the sensors, can cause more damage then preventing. I read on another post that for a TBI all I need to do is spray fogging oil into the throttle body, like one would on a carbed engine until it stalls.
What would be the best to do?
1. Full fogging procedure in the manual? (external tank, etc.)
2. Spray fogger into the throttle body? or
3. Do not fog?
Thanks for any advice.
