An entry level motor finally takes the giant leap forward into early 1990's technology by adding MPI and a catalytic converter, resulting in 150 HP out of the venerable 3.0 block.
I for one am very pleased, and hopefully Mercruiser will follow suit soon if they haven't already. Just a little disappointed that their carb'd version is still available...I'm really kinda hoping all the carb'd motors will be phased out, mostly for the good of the environment and a little reduction in our demand for foreign oil....though I realize it'll be only a shovelfull off a mountain. Every little bit helps IMO regardless. I'm frankly a little stunned the EPA still allows carb'd boat motors to still be produced in the US.
Hopefully these little buggers are reliable! I'm curious what others on this board think about this new motor...also curious how much more expensive they are with the new technology.
Catcha later!
