Volvo 3.0GLP-e not charging battery?

Hello Folks,

I have a 2006 engine Volvo 3.0GLP-e and i am having battery charging problems, when i use a fully charged the battery everything works fine, but after 30 minutes of use the battery is dead :-( i have check the following:-

1. Drive belt isnt slipping.
2. The battery is new and fully charged at the start of a trip.
3. I have checked the fuses under the dashboard and everything seems fine.

I think maybe it could be the following but i am NO Expert.

1. How can i check if the alternator is producing power to charge the battery?
2. Could if be a fuse or relay problem?

I am not a very handy guy or have lots of cash so your help would be wonderful

Sounds like your alternator is not working right. When running, revved a few times, check the voltage at the battery. It should be 14.2 volts. If not, check if you got at least 12 volts to the big red wire on the alternator. Less than 14.2v and 12v at alt should be a bad alt. No 12v at alt, you need to find the open, follow it back.
