Volvo 290 sp convert to dp

I was wondering what is involved. Is it a direct replacement, or do I need a special conversion kit. I see volvo sells a kit, but I was planning on just getting a donor boat.

A friend did it with an older 270. just bolted up...but I would guess a slight matching problem if there's a big difference in years.

The AQ series Duo Prop lower unit will bolt right up. There is some shimming required.
