Re: volvo 280 with a 460ford to a BBC conversion
The 460(with nitrous) pushed it great, but I wanted to put a fuel injected crate engine in it to improve it's reliability.
Ford does not make turn key fuel injected crate engine. Thats why I was looking to convert to a big chevy.
Thanks for your help.
Nitrous!!
I read about a someone on Offshoreonly.com that put a seriously tricked bored/stroked 460 with a King Cobra in a 211 Liberator like mine.
His description was that it would "Bury the speedo at 80mph"! Nitrous would change the rules!!!!
Ok.....I don't think we were any help here at all!
Could you post a couple of pictures of what you have? Do a (in focus please) side and rear view of the drive and a above-view of the engine.
If that's a 460 it is most likely an OMC Cobra.....(did you buy the boat new?....I suppose you didn't....)
It's also possible that someone back in the 90's or so, did a little (or a LOT of) modification and bolted some sort of Volvo Penta on the back (or just pasted some Volvo stickers on it!!
) one never knows what people will do!!!
When I bought my boat from my brother (and didn't know anything about OMC) he told me that the OMC King Cobra (and all Cobras) were "the same as" Volvo.
I'll bet there's more than a few people that have put Volvo stickers all over their Cobras right before selling them!!!!!
Pictures will tell all!!
I would LOVE to see what you have there!!
Cheers,
Rick
