volvo 280 outdrive (milky white leak)

I have a Glastron boat with a 280 outdrive. There is a leak coming from the outdrive, it looks milky white. I have to refill the oil every so often on the outdrive because it gets low.

I noticed that there was that milky residue inside the engine compartment by the sump pump.

when I go on reverse there is more milky stuff coming out then when I go forward

Sounds like you are long overdue for a new ujoint bellows, probably ujoints and flywheel cover bearings. Drive work to replace the front seal and other leaks.
