Volvo 270 ?
Please do not move this question to the prop board (been there and done that) being the people that will know this answer are on this board.
Like most of you know already I installed a 454 in my boat over the winter. With each little tweak I do I end up with another hundred or two rpm?s. About a month ago to get me back to 4750rpm?s @ WOT I had my Ellison prop reworked and it is now a 14X24P left. The problem is (and it is a good one to have) I just got done painting my boats bottom and now on flat water and trimmed out just right I am bouncing of the rev limiter (its set at 5000). Being that I have a 24P I need something in the 27 to 28P range but cant find anything.
Questions;
Do they make a 27P or 28P for a old Volvo 270?
Will any other prop (different maker) fit the Volvo?s shaft?
Are hubs the same size? Like could I take the hub out of a Volvo prop and put it in a Mercruiser or any other prop?

Weird...painting the bottom should slow ya down. Don't know where you would get that big of pitch for a 270

Re: Volvo 270 questions

The bottom was painted before but it had been a few years. ;) So anything done to it was a plus and I spent about 3 weeks working on the bottom.
The new motor is boarder line and wanting to hit that limiter with everything I do. Again this is good because everything I have done was planed all along to happen. One of the last things is roller cam and maybe make the cam a little more peppy. But that puts me in insane rpm's like I am already. I need to lose about 400 to 600. Maybe even 800 not knowing what the roller set up will add. My goal is 4400 WOT in the end. So being on the low end of that wouldn't hurt for now.
