The Flap fell off of my exhaust oulet. How important is this piece? Will it affect performance or durability? If it must be replaced, is it an immediate need? Thanks for any help.
I think it is important. Mine fell off and I kept getting head corrosion at plug 4 exhaust. I made a flapper out of an old tire, it's been on about 50 hours now and holding up just fine.
....that or some other heavy duty rubber. Otherwise, when you come off plane, you could ingest some water back up the exhaust port.
another solution would be to use an exhaust bellow that has a flapper built in. JMO, make one like barefoot suggests. The bellows-based one could stick or come loose. Easier to check the one on the outdrive.
Thanks to you all. I think I might try the home repair until I can find a reasonably priced permanent fix. Any advice on afixing the rubber to the outlet?
The one on vp store is incorrect. It shows it superceding to a new number which is just a $20 bolt. Not the $115 exhaust outlet or whatever they cost. If you use the previous part number than you can find it online
