hey everyone. I have a 1988 22 ft trophy with a volvo 230 and spc outdrive. I have a problem with keeping it running I took the carb apart to clean it out and there was alot of build up in it. I was wondering if there are any spec sheets on this carb . it is a solex single barrel.

the out drive also will not go up all the time it is an intermitent proble but none the less needs to be fixed.

I just got this boat in the last few weeks and have gone threw the boat very thoroughly and have fixed alot of things. also what should the top rpms be and what should I expect as far as top speed for this boat.

There are several pages of instructions in the Volvo service manual. You can get one from your local Volvo dealer for about 20 bucks.

Says 4700 - 5000 WOT RPM rated 110 bhp at the propshaft. My SWAG guess, if she'll plane, is 22 MPH . . .

All the rebuilding info for the carb is in the manual.

As far as your intermittent trim, check all the connections. for the trim and make sure they are clean and tight. Corrosion on the relays and sockets on the pump can cause an intermittent problem.

Is there anything that can be done to this boat to get it a bit faster....I plan on using it to off shore fish here in oc md and it will take me forever to get anywhere

Fix the carb (BTW, it's one of the easiest to rebuild), tune up, prop for wot, polish the underside of the hull.

At the end of the day, you are pushing a 22fter with only 110hp

Two options:

1) Follow Dunaruna's advice or
2) Repower, and then follow Dunaruna's advice too . . .

My advice, get her right, then sell her if you're not satisfied. Somebody will be OK with the speed and you will have learned a lot.

any idea what prop I can change to......not sure what is on there but I know it is the original prop
