Volvo 225D Timing

I just got around to installing a Petronix conversion kit and my question is; the timing mark on the harmonic balancer/pulley, is it a line/grove ( mine is a groove ) and I set the timing to 8 degrees before top dead center ),
as per the Volvo shop manual. My other question is; when I set the idle, should I have the boat in the water or just hooked up to the garden hose O.K.?

You should be able to adjust the idle mixture and speed on muffs. If that's not satisfactory when you put the boat in the water, readjust it.
