volvo 145A carb ?

Am working on a mid seventies Volvo 145A with a 250 outdrive. When hot will not start easily. If you wait a little it will fire up, but must hold throttle wide open and massage as it starts to fire. It is a twin carb model. Hear this is common with these. What is the remedy?

Those series of carbs are not very reliable. Here is a post from another site that you may find interesting. Basically throw the whole carb and manifold away and replace it with a Weber.
