I have just been informed by my local dealer that they no longer make a voltage regulator for my engine. 165 HP 4 cylinder Mercruiser. The voltage regulator is cooled by the raw water in this case, don't know if that is common or not. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do now.

Re: Voltage Regulator

You have two options. Used regulators can be found for around $100, or you can convert to a marine alternator and eliminate the stator/VR. Kits start around $300. The conversion can be done cheaper if you are handy and want to fabricate your own bracket.

Re: Voltage Regulator

thanks for the info. Turns out that the dealer had ordered the wrong part number. Just another weekend with boating.
