Thanks for warm welcome,
A boat has been given to me, it is 1991 Fisher Hawk with 91 60 hp Mercury. Motor is running great, couple of electrical issues, one was oil warning module, which I replaced with new CDI, other is high voltage output, 17 volts idling. Battery is brand new Interstate, checked voltage @ both battery and rectifier, which is 816770, both measurement are 17 volts, dash gauge is pegged too. After much research I came to the conclusion that rectifier must be bad, ordered new from here installed it and same high voltage again. I checked old rectifier, it is good, I know should have checked it before ordering new, but....
So here I am hope someone can help me solve this problem. Thanks Miro

You haven't posted the s/n of your engine, however, that engine should have a voltage regulator which is probably the problem. Do you have the Mercury service manual to check the system? If not, send me a PM with an email address and I will send you a copy.

Its not the rectifier. If it was the rectifier you wouldnt have any DC voltage. Your regulator is bad.

Re: Voltage output too high

Your s/n comes up as:

MERCURY - ( 60 H.P. (1991 ))
Serial No: 0D069282 Model No: 1060412LD

Here is the Parts and Service Bulletin listing for s/n 0D069282:

Search Results - Crowley Marine

See the voltage regulator as item 39 under ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS (50/60).
