I'm visting Nashville in mid July. I would like to do some Bass fishing and rent a small boat. I'm open to recommendations.

Thanks.

I don't know who rents boats here but Old Hickory lake had plenty of fish so does Kentucky Lake, Percy Priest Lake and though I haven't had much sucess there, the Cumberland river is alleged to be a good fishery.

BirdSong resort/marina located on Kentucky Lake/Tennessee River just off of I40 about 75 miles west of Nashville has camping/RV sites and cabins as well as fishing boats for rent and pontoons for rent. Wife and I are going there the weekend after the 4th. Good fishing in that area and all up and down the river itself. Good Bass to be had, crappie and Bream if you can find them, too.

Percy Priest Lake has good fishing, too, of you get at them early before boaters. Same with Old Hickory Lake. I'm local to Old Hickory by only 5 miles to nearest putout. Not sure if any of the marinas rent boats. But I'll check for you and repost here in a day or two.

Any where above Cheatham dam on the Cumberland river is good as is the Tennessee River, However the cumberland river below cheatham dam has been terrible the last month due to repairs on the railroad bridge here in Clarksville that was hit by a barge last month. they're not releasing any water through Cheatham dam to facilitate repairs on the bridge, and without any current the fish just are'nt biting. Water's so slack that if the wind is out of the south you'll actually float UPSTREAM! Have heard they're tearin 'em up below Old Hickory Dam due to daily generation releases from around 9am till 5 or 7 pm but be carefull if your fishing immeadiatly below the dam or any dam, water can come up quickly and can be VERY dangerous. Best to stay at least 100 yds. below dams. as most will release without warning. I know from personal experience, my dad and I were too close to generator sluce once as a kid ,generator opened up and we were swamped before we could even get to the key, thank God dad always insisted on wearing life jackets when fishing tail races, long before it became mandatory. Boat went down in about 3 seconds.

OK, you asked for info about rental for bass fishing boat in Nashville area.

I checked around for you and the only rentals available that I could find was on Percy Priest Lake at Elm Hill Marina, 615-889-5363, off of I40 exit 219 near Airport. They have the standard open fishing boat or they have 16 foot Javelin bass boat. Rental seems ok to me for that bass boat, half day $100, full $160. Sorry didn't ask about the other open fishing boat, figured you would prefer a bass type boat, but you can check with them.

Again, I mentioned the Birdsong Resort & Marina, if you would like to be out from Nashville a little.

Forgot to mention center hill lake has pontoons for rent but they're expensive, around 300.00 for full day.
