Visiting Michigan in July - Where to go fishing?

My wife wants to visit the in-laws the end of July. I want to go fishing. Same old story. Anyone know a nice place to take the family where I can quality fish for a couple of days and still keep the troops happy (salmon/trout??). We will fly in from Washington state so I'll need a guide or charter boat. My brother-in-law lives just north of Detroit and doesn't fish but I'm willing to travel a ways to reach a good fishing destination.<br />Thanks for any assistance. GillieBill

Your best bets for salmon/trout are on the western side of the state. Best ports are Frankfurt and Muskegon.<br /><br />I suggest you contact the travel and tourism board for Michigan. They will have names of plenty of charters for the those two ports.<br /><br />If you want to do some of the best walleye fishing in the world, you'll be close by in Detroit. Right off Toledo is great "eye" fishing. Many charters abound there also.

For something new (if you have not done so already), Why not consider Michigan's inland lakes?<br /><br />There are plenty of them and many have very decent fishing. You may even be able to get a boat rental on the spot.<br /><br />Of course, since you are visiting relatives, furthur may be better <br /><br />Have fun.

Lake St. Clair is right next door to your brother-in-law. Check it out !!! Stop in Metro Beach while you are visiting.
