Hurricane started building boats on 1974. I don't know if it was the same in the 70s but if you look at the last 2 numbers of the serial number in the transom it should be the year the boat was built. No one knew how strong fiberglass was back then so most boats of that era are overbuilt and heavy. I just got back from vacation in South Florida where we rented a Hurricane Deck boat and loved it. They make a really solid boat.
