It could be anywhere, if it has one, which I doubt.

Re: vin #

My present trailer has a sticker on the inside of the frame near the tongue. The sticker gives load capacity, axle rating, GVWR, and the VIN. I recall that my first trailer (1976) had a similar sticker, also on the frame up forward, near the tongue. I don't know if they used these stickers back in 1967 when your trailer was made, or if one would even hold up for 37 years. If you don't have one, maybe you could explain to the DMV folks that your sticker lost its grip :D after all those years? Good luck.

Hi,

I called the CHP about this for my Shoreline that came with my 1982 Hobie 18. They said all they do is look at the VIN on the trailer to check if it matches. They don't know or care how the VIN got there. They suggested that if my trailer did not have one I should stamp it on before I brought it in. In CA you need a written request from the DMV for the CHP to do the inspection and your ID, registration... the normal paperwork.

Of course you don't want to show up with a trailer with two VIN numbers on it...

Barnacle
