I did an essay about the American involvement in Vietnam from 1945 - 1975 for the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy which I attended and graduated in 1993. It was a class assignment to complete several essays and this was one of the subjects assigned to me. I learned a lot of very interesting things about that war and American politics in general during that time period. <br /><br />On a side note......another assignment was to do a "country briefing" and the country assigned to me was Iraq. I had to cover everything from population, religion, and infrastructure, to the type of military forces, the strength of their forces, and type of defenses they employ. That was right before the Gulf war when we drove Iraq out of Kuwait. Having researched Iraq a few months before that war started gave me a different perspective of how the well the multi-country task force did in the type of strategy they used while kicking the Iraqi butt out of Kuwait.
