Hi all
just had my 4.3 gxi and duoprop serviced (ok its in a 1993 bayliner ciera 2255)

ever since the installation i have been concerned about vibrations under load particularly noticable going up a wave or if the leg is trimmed all the way in--( The mechanic had checked out all the normal areas of concern but i was not convinced so the volvo rep came and checked it out and reckoned that while it was noticable it was a trim issue and i needed to become more familiar with it-- yeah right)

we tried a new set of props and there was no noticable difference, however i personally thought that the props could still be the cause and untill they were checked out i was never going to get anywere with my gut feeling that something was not right

so while the motor and leg were being serviced i took the props to our local Prop Scan shop and had them checked and adjusted as required. they were significantly out of balance and the pitch was inconsistent particularly one blade on each prop.

the prop shop did there stuff and now they are category "1" which is the second most accurate.i should of said they are stainless steel,

when the mechanic refitted them i got him to align the trailing edge of the front prop at the 12 oclock and the back prop trailing edge at 6 oclock (read some were that it matters dont know but it cant hurt to try)

how does it feel now? great there is a dramatic reduction in vibration and particularly when trimmed in

the prop scan guy reckons they are around the 26 inch pitch so if anyone is interested F7 translates to around 26"

was it worth the 280.00 definatly. any increase in performance, yes slightly better plaining but no better top end

Regards Ewen
