VHF and sealant

First time out yesterday this season and have a couple of quick questions. My VHF radio has a feedback problem when I have the volvume turned down low. It's fine from about 3-10 on a scale of 1-10 but anything lower than a 3 and I get this horrible feedback coming from the speaker, and the lower the volume goes, the louder the squealing gets. Any ideas? Also, the seal around my drain plug is leaking. I want to remove it with the 3 screws and put a good coating of sealant around it. 3M 4200 for things you may want to re-do.<br />3M 5200 for things you don't plan to get into again. Both are suitable for below water line.<br />There are other products, I just haven't used them.<br />Make a post in electronics on your VHF problem. Good luck.
