Hi All,
Need some guidance in regards to how to connect up the vesselview link to my Lowrance Elite Ti2 gps/fish finder.

I just repowered my boat to a new Mercury 115Hp 4 stroke. They needed to replace the old engine harness with a new one and install a new ignition switch with this harness 84-896537a15 revH.

They also installed this harness to my analog gauges for tachometer. 84-892990A01 RevB.

My main question is can I just purchase a Mercury Junction box like this one:

878492T14 Mercury Junction box - 4 way

Separate the two harnesses that are connected and plug into a port on the junction box and then plug the vesselview link smartgauge plug into the juntion box as well?

OR

Do I need to buy a the CAN Data harness:
84-879981T20 CAN Data Harness
Plug it into the smartgauge port on the engine, run it to the helm.

bypass using the Junction box with this male to male harness
84-892452T01 10 Pin Adapter Harness Male/Male

and then connect the vesselview link cable?

I just cant find any information on the new main engine harness if it transmits the data and controls via that harness.

Having the engine info would be cool on my 12" Lowrance but the main goal for this is the have "Troll Control" from the Lowrance.

I have googled my way around for days and cant figure it out. I don't want to bother the marina that did the install since I took this part out of the quote to save my self a few bucks knowing I could try to do it myself.

Your motor speaks Merc-anses to Vesselview. Your Lowrance speaks NMEA 2000.
You need a translator (Gateway) for the two to communicate

Yes, sorry i should have mentioned, i have the NMEA 2000 Gateway already on the boat and installed to control my Motorguide Xi5 from the Lowrance as well.

My main focus is making sure that the existing harness from the engine transmits the controls and information and all i need is the 60 dollar Merc Junction box vs. running another harness from the motor to the helm for 100 bucks.

Just to clarify, do you have a "Merc to Y2K Gateway" (~$400) or a NMEA 2000 "backbone" installed.

Don't need the Gateway to talk with the Motorguide

The harness going to ignition switch and gauges is analog.

You need to connect to the digital port with some sort of a gateway.

In reality you may need two gateways if the vessel gateway doesn’t support a NMEA 2000 connection

Ok, Thank you, i will just run the cable from the open port on the engine to the helm.
