I hate doing stuff myself sometimes. I was attempting to instal vesselview mobile on my 2017 115 pro xs tonight. When plugging vesselview into the motor, one of the small metal tabs in the motor side female plug wasn’t aligned properly and snapped off. Of course vesselview wouldn’t light up. What do I need to do to fix my screwup? Can I replace the female plug on the motor side? Electronics isn’t a strong suite of mine.

Yes you/one should be able to replace the pin Connection.

For many helpful tips you may want to try searching online first under 'Image' - "Wire Harness Female Pin Terminals Electrical Connection to see if you can identify the type of design you're dealing with then while still searching Wire Harness Female Pin Terminals Electrical Connection, 'Click on videos and there ought to be some "How To Repair" wire pin connections which shows ways to remove the pins plus change them out, etc..

Though the following video is not your exact design connector, here's just an example of what it's going to take to make it right again. How to repair an automotive wiring harness connector | How to depin a pigtail, connector, plug

They do have helpful tools to help change these out...Maybe try searching female pin terminals electrical connection removal tools for ideas.

If maybe you don't want to give this job a try, Maybe bring the boat by a well known, busy type auto/marine stereo install shop as they'll probably be able to switch that pin out in minutes once started.;)

Good luck.

pull the connector apart. get as many pics as you can. post them here. a few of us have experience making harnesses and have connectors, pins, sockets and tools so we should be able to identify what you need

my guess its a dephi connector if so, then your local auto parts store may have pins.

Here is the plug. Notice that the top left pin in the picture is the one that broke off.

Delphi / Packard connector. Pins available at most auto parts stores they should have pins for the 280 series

unclip the purple retainer from the back of the backshell to pull the pin/wire out. crimp new pin. re-install

So when I pull the retainer off the back, I just pull the wire associated with the pin and the pin will pull out too?

generally. look at the video FT posted. there normally is a tang used as retention as well on the packard/delphi pins. this should be depressed to get the pin out. normally from the pin side with a small pick or heavy stick pin.

with the tang depressed, you can then pull the pin and wire out

you stick the pick or heavy stick pin in the little hole next to the pin. that little hole is in your pic
