Are the Coast Guard vessel checks only for boats on the coast and coastal waters? Or do they check vessels on lakes and inland waters as well? Just thought it couldn't hurt to get the boat checked if they do it.
In Maryland the DNR State Police do them on a complimentary basis periodically in state parks. They give you a fancy shmancy sticker when you pass. They mainly look for safety equipment and registration. No harm no foul if youre deficient......at least that one time!
I see them inland at Lake washington all the time at the docks checking everyone whose coming in and out, they just asked me for registration and life jackets for every person and made sure fire extinguisher is still good. Nice people.
the coast guard auxiliary would check the boats at the ramp for the larger lakes in WI. they check the ramps here in the ICW in florida. as mentioned, contact them. however the list they are checking is available on-line
