recently bought a used pontoon boat with a 87 60hp johnson. in having some service work done the mechanic was rebuilding the carbs and states that they are no good because the ventura tubes that pick up the gas from the float bowl are split from top to bottom. he states that this will allow the engine to run to lean and damage the cylinder walls. can anyone give me some insight to this. is this correct or can they be repaired.
