Not a waste of space. The bunks fold down to become the back rest to the seats when using the table. GOOD use of space. Good idea.

I looked at a new 28 foot fishing boat, twin outboard powered, built by Polar. It had two sets of bunk beds hanging from the ceiling in the cabin, via chains. Very much like the US WWII subs had their sleeping set up.

If you were thin enough, and you had a burly guy pick you up like a loaf of bread, he might be able to stuff you into the bunk bed. Your feet would not hang out too much.

I found it to be totally useless, unless you were taking some small children fishing overnight!
