valve type main bearings wear on my 1968 75 HP Mariner

Pulled these bearing apart to get crank polished and ready for rebuild. I took the bare crank to my local machine shop. He said the rod journals would only need polishing but he had never see wear like caused by the 10 aluminum bearing surface fins on the crank. He is concerned about the wear on the crank. Although it is very slight and can barely be felt with your fingernail, he didn't know what to do. Does he cut the journals or just polish them up. Why are there no bearings there to be changed?
The way they are made, it looks like this type of wear is inevitable? Is it normal, repairable, do I have to replace the bearings?
I've included a picture of the actual surface that rides on the crank.

Did you really mean your 1986 Mariner? Your picture did not come through. Merc/Mariners do not have aluminum bearings. I doubt any serious motors have aluminum bearings. Are you discussing the reed blocks?

Sorry, a moment of dyslexia. It is an 1986. Every forum is different as far as posting a picture. I believe you can look at the bottom of my question and there is something you can click on that shows the picture. I was at work when I posted the question and was thinking of the reeds as valves, got "valve type bearing" stuck in my head. Sorry for the errors but I'm guessing you knew probably what I was talking about by my description. The picture in my repro shop manual of a "good" & " "bad" reed block side by side is not very defined and doesn't tell me much. I believe my picture is good enough to show the grooves in the reed block. Can you tell if it looks like abnormal wear? Should the crank be cleaned up on those journals or left with the real light ridges? IF you know these motors and my picture and you still can't see my picture, please let me know and I will send a picture directly to you.
Now I'm just playing around, trying to make this picture larger. See if this works. I know it can up in the next reply I did. Picture 1301.jpg
Thanks for any info,
Karl.

OK, The pictures came thru. I think it looks normal. Check the main bearings for play. I would not expect the crankshaft to contact the reed valves under normal circumstances. Those ridges serve to seal the crankcase for each piston.

Those are labyrinth seals in the reed blocks, all the edges of the should be square and sharp edged, if flattened or has brass look they need replaced as these will effect if and low end.

Sorry again for all the posting mess.
The edges are evenly square all the way around. No flattened ridges or what I would guess to be abnormal wear in spots.
Thanks for your help,
Karl.
