what would you say is the value of a 1990 supercat (now MTX) 24' deckboat with twin mariner 150hp outboards?

it is supposed to be in pretty good shape. it has been in salt water at least few (maybe several) times.

my dad and I are thinking of buying it.

any advice would be helpful.

thanks.

I haven't heard of the boat brand. Got any pictures? Twin 150s would be worth $2-4k by themselves I'd think.

There's a glitch in the forum software concerning pictures. I can see your pics right now (neat boat by the way) but in about an hour the links will be dead. If you click the Go Advanced button when posting, and post them there, they should work for everyone.

Boat looks rough. Nice motors though. I'm thinking $2-3k.

Re: value of 1990 24 foot deckboat

Here are the photos again. Thanks for the tip. Hopefully this will stick.

$2000-3,000...huh? Interesting. That is a cheap way to get into some fun. But is it a cheap way to get into an expensive project? Hard to predict.

I will see what my dad thinks. He wants to take the family on the water for some fun and take his grandchildren fishing like he used to take me and my siblings.

thanks for any comments.

Your biggest concern would be if that boat has wooden stringers and if so are they rotted. It looks like it will certainly need some work on the deck.

replacing teh deck doesnt mean he did it right. Look for signs of rot... moisture, soft spots etc. It also doesn't mean he put a nice new deck over rotted stringers and a rotted transom
Though i suppose a transom job on a boat like that would be easy...
looks like a really cool boat and I love the twins. What's he asking?

good point about the proper replacement.

he is asking $5500. I thought this might be too much....

Re: value of 1990 24 foot deckboat

The twins on back are what are carrying the value for this boat (mostly anyway). An inspection/sea trial might convince you it's a nice "barge" for taking people out on the lake to enjoy. It might even be a nice running boat with two engines - only putting it on the water will tell you that. With the twins on it, it might be worth $4K assuming all is well with the engines.

I think $5,500 is too high for this boat, but I'm not used to buying more than one motor at a time. I'd probably be shooting somewhere between $3K and $4K myself - again, based on what I can see here.
