I have a 1983 Evinrude 70 that has no compression on middle cyclinder, while inquiring about a rebuild of the powerhead, found a mechanic who has a 1991 Johnson 70 hp he just finished a rebuild on. He offered to sell me this motor for 1500.00 and rig it up on my boat at this price. He told he he would take my motor in on trade but only offered me 200.00 for it. I think my 83 rude should be worth more money than this. What do some of you fellows with more experience think, should i pay him 1500.00 and keep my old motor, or give him the old motor and pay 1300.00?
