Does anyone have any info as to the advantages/disadvantages of using a float vs a vacuum bilge switch.

I've been told that vacuum is a little better as it has no wires that are immersed in water.

Re: Vacuum vs Float Bilge S.switch

I would not worry about wires immersed in water. Bilge pumps are constructed specifically for that purpose, it's a 12 volt system and properly wired is protected by an in-line fuse on the direct line and at the fuse panel for the manual feed.

I've used many submersible pump applications 12 volt DC, 115 volt AC, 230 volt AC, etc. and have never been concerned. I do stress proper wiring, grounding etc. Sorry that I can not comment on the vacuum bilge switch versus float, which is a different issue than submersible wiring.
