Hi fellas,I am a little confused as to how the numering is done on v6 motors.I have a 89 225 Jonno and have had new rings and a hone done on it recently now the bottom starboard (what number?)cylinder had to have .30 ring set on it(I think thats what the mechanic told me)as opposed to the others being normal size.Obviously this cylinder had worn more than the others.I have read on posts before that there is one cylinder on v6 that wear more than the other why is this and is it the stbd bottom one.I hpe this makes sense???

Re: V6 cylinder Numbering System

The top starboard is the highest cylinder and is number 1. The bottom port side cylinder is the lowest and therefore number 6.

I hope you mean the bottom starboard (#5) has a .030 set of rings and we hope it also has a new .030 piston. You don't want a .030 ring set on the old standard piston.

No one cylinder should wear any more than the resy under normal circumstances.
