I have been lurking here for some time and have picked up a ton of useful info from you guys. Hopefully someone can help me w/ a question that has come up.

Installed carb kits on my 95 175 Johnson today. There was a nylon washer(see pic) in the package that I assumed went under the float needle seat. When disassembling, one of the carbs had the washer in that location(the other 5 did not have one). Is that indeed where it goes? With the washer in that location and the float adjusted to the proper level it seemed as though there was not very much travel in the float needle? Also looking at the FSM and the BRP parts diagram I didn't see the washer at all. Waiting to fire this thing up until I can verify. Thanks. Ted

i believe you are correct that it belong between carb body and float needle seat, but it sure does not show on the diagram.

Re: V6 Carbs

I rebuilt my 1995's and used the washer under the float seat. I've had zero problems with them.

Most don't use those washers. I had this same question......called my mechanic and he said he rarely if ever puts those in.

I just rebuilt my 1993 175 6 carbs. None had washers and I did not put any back in. Purrs like a kitten. :)

Thanks for the replies guys. With the washers in the floats required a lot of adjustment to bring them level and parallel to the carb body which really reduced the travel of the float and consequently the travel of the float needle. It just didn't seem right. Since 5 of the six had no washer in them I'm going to run them all that way for now.

If the body has a cast in "washer" you don't use the ones in the kit. If the body is flat you use the washer in the kit.
